Litmus paper...

...

I very pleasantly discovered that there is a small litmus paper that Apple conveniently placed inside the headphone jack of my iPod Touch, the main purpose of which is to indicate whether any damage incurred by the device was water-induced.
Three guesses as to how and why I found out...

My old school iPod went through the shake machine at McD's 3 years ago. It still works. And tastes great.

Forget liquid-damage, how was it not "shaken" to oblivion?

Anyhow, mine was unfortunately not that lucky.

I learned at the RIM plant that the same papers are put inside Blackberries. They're called "watermarks" (I guess they're unaware the same name is taken for ghost images used in photos and video).

I always wondered, though, couldn't someone just find the watermarks, and replace them with white paper? Or, other watermarks?
